Each session is facilitated by Fort Plain resident Harol d Rolls\, a Tibetan Buddhist monk who was based at Pullahari\, Nepal\, for over 20 years.
\n
Rolls\, whose spiritual name is Lama Tenzin Yongdu \, said that each class will consist of meditation and discussion. Partici pants can expect “a little bit of background — some context — as to what m editation is\,” said Rolls\, noting that they will also learn how to medit ate. “The class is for people who want to learn to meditate and to have gu idance in meditation\,” he said.

Benefits of meditation include le arning how to calm oneself\, he said. “When we get hurt\, angry or jealous \, our minds take over and control us. When you ‘make friends’ with your m ind\, you’re not intimidated by your feelings. You can work with that ener gy in a positive way.”

Hosted by Sam\, each lesson will be a half-hour slot\, with slots available from 3 to 5 p.m. Lessons a re available for all skill levels--whether you're just beginning to learn\ , brushing up on your skills\, practicing a specific piece\, or just looki ng for someone to play music with\, we'd love to have you!

Join 'Captain Science' (form er educator John Laffan) on select Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5 pm\, as he lead s kids on explorations of various scientific topics using experiments\, pu zzles\, and interactive activities. Plus\, collect a unique library tradin g card highlighting historical scientists at each session you attend!

Camp Curiosity is intended for kids ages 8 to 13. All are welcome to attend\, but we do strongly recommend that parents preregister their child ren\, in order to ensure that they're able to bring home the free crafts a nd activities associated with each session.
